Rural Renaissance in France and Europe

Working together for good food, good farming and better agricultural policies in the EU.

HUBS

Our partner ARC2020 (Agricultural & Rural Convention) has created a European platform which advocates for the radical reform of the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). Working with more than 150 NGOs, communities and farmer organisations, ARC2020 encourages dialogue between rural and urban citizens on the use of more resilient and sustainable food policies. In addition to pushing for change in Brussels, ARC2020 supports on-the-ground practitioners in agroecology; sustainable farming that works with nature to mitigate climate change and protect biodiversity.

Through its project “Nos campagnes en résilience”, ARC2020 supports experiments in socio-ecological transition in the French countryside. One example is La Ferme des 7 Chemins, a collective dairy farm in north-west France. Actors across the food supply chain – from seed savers to chefs – take part in the farm’s experiments in escaping the productivist paradigm.

Farmers are often isolated and vulnerable in the face of environmental and societal challenges. ARC2020 connects French farmers to their European colleagues, building bridges to help these farmers work together to find socio-ecological solutions in a spirit of solidarity.

Porticus has supported ARC2020 since 2020.
